Britons are expected to flock to the UK's beaches and parks today in the glorious weekend sunshine. Temperatures could reach highs of 23C today as the mercury edges towards 26C this week.

A forecaster added that temperatures in the mid-twenties were not 'out of the question' for next week. Northern Ireland reached 19.1C in Magilligan, making today the warmest day of the year there so far
