Had the Brisbane Bullets had their way, Will McDowell-White would have been playing for, not against, them in Auckland on Thursday.
The son of Brisbane Lions triple-winning AFL premiership legend Darryl White, McDowell-White was wanted by Bullets coach Justin Schueller.
However despite having coached McDowell-White at national youth team level, Schueller could convince the 25-year-old guard to leave the New Zealand Breakers. “I just want to make sure that I have an impact on that game … the stats don’t really matter against them,” said McDowell-White, who admitted tothat he had been tempted to return to Brisbane.“They guys on the team, I’ve played with them a lot as well. Family is a big thing, but I’m comfortable away from home.”
