Australia’s worker shortage has pushed business owners to offer thousands of dollars in incentives in a bid to find new employees. 7NEWS
The industries with the highest demand for workers across the country are trades and services, healthcare, and manufacturing, transport and logistics, data from Seek.com.au shows.are desperately trying to combat the shortage, with bonuses of up to $15,000 available for new employees.Christian Sutton from Conquer Fitness in Kingaroy toldit was “incredibly difficult” to find employees at the moment, especially in regional areas where “it’s already slimmed pickings for skilled workers”.
“There are so many avenues that we are offering in the incentive package, to get people out there, but it’s been a struggle to find qualified and skilled workers to come and be personal trainers in the gym, for sure,” he said. “I think in the regional areas it’s hard to get people and that’s why we have such a large package to get people drawn out from those more city-based areas.”that even though the company’s call centre was in the heart of the city, it too was struggling with the staff shortage.“In transport and logistics we are offering the $2000 bonus for truck drivers, trades, and storing warehouse workers, and in our retail stores as well.
