The woman's employer has been ordered by the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal to pay her $90,000.
A Canberra mother has been awarded $90,000 in compensation by the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal after she successfully won a discrimination case against her employer.
ACAT found the young mother was not given access to flexible work arrangements, despite requesting them across a seventh-month period before she resigned. She was also spoken to by two senior adult males who asked "invasive" questions about her breastfeeding needs, ACAT found. "The applicant was young, inexperienced, and in a vulnerable position as a first-time mother," ACAT presidential member Heidi Robinson wrote in her decision.
