Five people have been injured by a car that allegedly crashed into them while they stood outside a licensed premise on the main strip of a seaside town in South Australia. The blue Ford sedan allegedly crashed into the group on North Tce in Port Elliot about 1.30am on Saturday. Five people were injured in the crash, including a 22-year-old Hindmarsh Island man who suffered “serious life-threatening injuries”, according to South Australia Police.

A 21-year-old Goolwa Beach man, a 37-year-old Port Elliott woman, a 20-year-old Inman Valley woman and a 30-year-old Blackwood man were all taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries. The driver of the car then allegedly left the scene, and the vehicle was later located on nearby Sturt St. The 37-year-old man eventually “returned to the scene and was promptly arrested by local patrols”, police said.
