A car has been completed gutted by fire and several nearby vehicles damaged due to fire on Thursday night, in the southwest Sydney suburb of Punchbowl. The incident occurred just before 4am on Friday, with emergency services called to Kensington Street, to find the car well alight. Two other nearby cars were damaged by the fire. NSW Fire and Rescue crews extinguished the blaze. On Friday, Sunrise reporter Liam Tapper was at the scene.
“As you can see, take a look inside, it has been completely gutted. If we look over here, there is one, two, three, four other cars which have been destroyed to some extent due to the size and ferocity of the flames,” Tapper said. Tapper said a number of the flames were close to a power pole. “The if I show you this power pole, these connect over to a number of houses. We spoke with Ausgrid, they said fortunately it was only linked to telephone lines. They were the only ones damaged .
