On Tuesday, Cardinal Pell had his sexual abuse conviction overturned by Australia’s highest court after having spent 405 days in jail following an initial ruling which had found him guilty in 2018. Mr Kenny said an “amazing amount of emotion” has surrounded this case which had seen the Cardinal be subject to “ugly ideological attacks” based on his conservative stance and his “religious backgrounds”.
