In its decision, the commission said it was difficult to calculate an economy-wide cost of the new leave arrangements since it was a contingent entitlement, meaning not everyone would take it or use the whole 10 days. Natalie Lang, the union’s NSW/ACT branch secretary, said the change was a “once-in-a-generation change” to workplace laws.
