No significant injuries have been reported but police say the collision that occurred at about 10am this morning, north of Alice Springs, has resulted in significant damage to the train and truck.
The Ghan was travelling south near Alice Springs when it collided with a truck on Sunday morning.A cattle truck collided with the Ghan passenger train at about 10am this morning 60 kilometres north of Alice Springs .
The truck collided with the train's second locomotive at the Arltunga Crossing at about 10am as the train was travelling south, according to initial reports from police. Journey Beyond, the company operating the Ghan, said no serious injuries had been identified by passengers, train drivers or crew.Emergency services were attending the scene on Sunday afternoon, the company said.
