The Australian Renewable Energy Agency contributed $6.6 million to the project in its latest funding round. “We’ve got a big desire to finance them, but there just hadn’t really been the opportunity. One of the key issues with batteries is getting contracts to support the revenue.
Mr Fraser said the new Labor government’s commitment to renewable energy generation and work by the Australian Energy Markets Commission to develop a capacity mechanism, which would pay providers to ensure sufficient dispatchable energy supplies, could ease those concerns.
