The club have hit back after the fan group released their own statement accusing them of 'restricting use of matchday materials.'
Celtic have hit the Green Brigade with more restrictions for bad behaviour – including members of the controversial fan group BREAKING into Celtic Park.
But Record Sport understands the escalation in the row between the club and the fan group has come after a number of recent flashpoints. This includes supporters from the section breaking into Parkhead through fire doors in the recent Euro clash with Lazio, and threatening behaviour to club employees. There are also huge concerns about pictures being taken of match day Police officers – and being shared online and branded ‘pig watch’.
The Hoops were sanctioned by Euro bigwigs in 2016 for a large pro-Palestine display in the qualifying clash with Israeli side Hapoel Beer Sheva and the club are concerned they could be facing partial – or even full – stadium closure if the offences continue to mount up. “The suspension was communicated to the Green Brigade on Friday afternoon ahead of the Hearts match on Sunday afternoon despite alleged concerns dating back four weeks. In addition to this, the Green Brigade face further restrictions at Celtic Park designed to impede on our support and use of our standard matchday materials.
