Channel 9 Adelaide has axed four staff members, including two experienced cameramen and a couple of budding reporters, as part of a major move to cut costs.
Channel 9 Adelaide has axed four staff members as part of a torrent of redundancies across the Nine Entertainment network that is set to cost 200 people their jobs.
According to the Adelaide Advertiser, a TV source revealed the staff were “beloved” members at the station and morale there was “very, very low”. Over 200 employees are expected to be eliminated across Nine Entertainment’s struggling TV network and metro newspapers nationwide. The cuts also include 90 staff from Nine's newspapers, including flagship mastheads The Age and Sydney Morning Herald.
“From our nationwide team of almost 5000 people, around 200 jobs are expected to be affected across Nine including some vacant and casual roles not being filled,” Mr Sneesby said in a statement.
