After Cullen, 44, called the mogul by the nickname during a live cross from Melbourne, Portelli responded on social media saying"we have a winner, well played sir" along with a screenshot appearing to be a bank transfer receipt of $50,000 to the journalist. “It has been an honour and a pleasure to sit with you, nerd out and compare Biden impersonations,” Campbell wrote on Instagram.Sylvia Jeffreys shared a kind message for her former colleague: “Big â¤ï¸Â to you and your gorgeous family.”
Cullen’s former colleagues were responding to a post where he thanked his former co-workers for reaching out after he was axed from Nine. “The Today show crew should be on strike over this ridiculous decision…. I won’t be turning into 9 switching to 7…all the in best on the future,” wrote one social media user.One added: “A stupid decision by channel 9 and once again talent like you gets taken away.”"Nine has agreed with Today presenter and journalist Alex Cullen that he will finish with the network following a review into a recent incident," Nine’s statement read.
“Alex Cullen… on behalf of you, mate, $25,000 to the Salvation Army and $25,000 to the RSPCA,” Portelli wrote in an Instagram post.
