Nearly 30 people are being monitored after a chemical spill in a science lab at a Sydney boys' school this afternoon led to them reportedly feeling unwell. A 600ml bottle of a chemical called benzyl chloride, used to make dyes and pharmaceuticals, leaked in a science room at Hurstville Boys Campus at around midday, according to Fire and Rescue NSW.

A 600ml bottle of a chemical called benzyl chloride , used to make dyes and pharmaceuticals, leaked in a science room at Hurstville Boys Campus at around midday, according to Fire and Rescue NSW. Those within the immediate vicinity of the spill reportedly felt "irritation and smelt strong fumes" straight away.
20 students and eight staff currently being monitored as a precaution, Fire and Rescue NSW said. It's understood that the chemical was in the process of being disposed of when it spilled. FRNSW sent 10 firefighters and five trucks to the scene, as well as a hazardous materials specialist team

Young Man Dies in Four-Car Crash North of SydneyA young man has died following a four-car crash north of Sydney last week.
