Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has urged people to “chill out” and will make 'no apologies' following his bizarre appearance alongside American basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal in a bid to raise awareness for his government's Voice to Parliament.

Country Liberal Party Senator Jacinta Price labelled the move to use O’Neal to spruik the referendum a “cringy PR stunt” to appeal to younger Australians.“It’s really quite insulting, like it’s insulting not just for Indigenous Australians, but all Australians because we’re talking about issues here that are really, really important issues.”

“He’s putting his nose into business that has nothing to do with him,” Ms Thorpe said of O’Neal during an interview with 3AW radio on Monday. The Labor Government pushed the issue to the centre of its agenda when the Prime Minister declared on the night of his Federal Election win that there would be a referendum in his first term.Mr Albanese revealed late last month Australians would be asked a"simple and clear" yes or no in the referendum on the Voice to Parliament.
