China sanctions Nancy Pelosi following her Taiwan visit

The Chinese government has sanctioned US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her family directly for challenging its claims of sovereignty over Taiwan.

“If the US really wants to take on responsibility, it must immediately stop interfering in China’s internal affairs for any reason and under any excuse,” China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said.

“It must immediately stop using the salami tactics to encroach on and hollow out the one-China policy.”
