Queensland's Chief Health Officer said he believes the current Omicron wave will last 'a period of weeks' and help create herd immunity as the state recorded 6781 new cases. 9News
The state recorded 6781 new cases overnight which is a jump from yesterday where 5699 infections were reported
"The general pattern that happens with pandemics over history is you get a big wave and it gets smaller.More than 29,000 Queenslanders were tested in the last 24 hours, and there are now more than 32,000 active cases in the state. Dr Gerrard said only people with symptoms, those who have had a positive rapid antigen test, or close contacts should be getting PCR tests as testing queues continue to grow today."What I'm suggesting to you is, if you are sick with those symptoms, just assume it is COVID-19 and stay at home."
