Cirque du Soleil is back in the Houston area with its revival of “KOOZA,” a zany production that pairs awe-inspiring acrobatics with the playful art of clowning in a nod to the group’s origins as a small troupe of street performers.
: MAD, 4444 Westheimer Rd., Ste. C180“That combination is not always successful,” she continued. “Sometimes, it will be so acrobatic that you lose the story, or it’s more story-driven, but I find that ‘KOOZA’ has a really good balance of wow acts and then this completely adorable character of the Innocent that touches your heart. You just want to go and give him a big hug.”
The relaunch of the adrenaline-packed production, which broke the company’s attendance record when it returned to Montreal last spring, features fresh comedic flair in the role of the clowns, thanks to the show’s writer and director David Shiner.
