Lowy Institute International Security Program Director Sam Roggeveen says he has concerns the pressure of sanctions on Russia will be “too high” and will, in fact, lead to escalations in conflict.
“I think there’s a case here for allowing the sanctions, which are really unprecedented in their severity, to have some time to take effect,” he told Sky News host Rita Panahi. “These sanctions are incredibly severe – we’ve never seen anything like it against a major power, a nuclear-armed power such as Russia.”
