Summer has arrived. But it will be a cool start in Sydney with below-average temperatures on Sunday and Monday. Smoke from bushfires is also expected to continue affecting air quality in Sydney and around the state
Temperatures will reach tops of 25 degrees on Sunday and 23 degrees on Monday before warming up to the high 20s and low 30s during the week."It's the first day of summer but it's a bit cooler than what we've seen in the past," Abrar Shabren, a forecaster at the Bureau of Meteorology, said.
However, Mr Shabren said it is expected to be a warm summer, with little rainfall expected in the coming weeks.Smoke from bushfires that continue to burn in north and south NSW is also expected to continue affecting air quality in Sydney and around the state.Six areas including the Greater Sydney, Greater Hunter and Illawarra regions were under a total fire ban on Sunday."From tomorrow it will become quite windy and there will be a bit more smoke around metropolitan and greater Sydney.
He said there was also the possibility of storms in Sydney and in NSW's north-east on Sunday and Monday.
