NSW Police have announced a $750,000 reward for information into the disappearance and suspected death of 18-year-old Rose Howell who vanished from near Coffs Harbour two decades ago.
The 18-year-old was last seen on Perry’s Road in Repton, about 20 kilometres south of Coffs Harbour, just after 6pm on April 11, 2003.
A 2012 coronial inquest into the young woman's disappearance found she had most likely died, however the date, place and cause of death could not be determined.Police Minister Yasmin Catley hopes the reward will encourage those who have not spoken up to come forward. Rose’s Mother, Malila Howell, said 20 years on and the pain of not knowing what happened to her daughter never goes away.
“A lot can change in twenty years, and I’m hoping in the two decades that have passed, someone’s situation may have changed in a way that enables them to talk to police.
