NSW Police have revealed footage of a man who was filmed throwing a flare while attending the controversial pro-Palestinian protests at the Sydney Opera House last week.
The demonstration descended into chaos after a small group of protesters lit flares and burned the Israeli flag, while chanting offensive, anti-Semitic phrases.
In the footage he can also be seen as wearing a black hooded jacket, grey pants, black shoes, and a black and white scarf. In the video shared by police the man can be seen lighting an orange flare, before throwing it towards the Sydney Opera House, where a contingent of police kept guard on the steps.Anyone with information is urged to contact Sydney City Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A third protest will be held at Sydney’s Town Hall this Saturday, with organisers confirming paper work had been submitted within the seven-day deadline.“They’ve got to take into consideration a range of factors in particular, the right to protest in NSW … and also the right for everybody to be free from racial vilification from racism, from incitement to violence,” he said.
