Judith Levitan would normally host 20 to 30 for a traditional Passover dinner, but this year there will be empty chairs at the table because of the coronavirus lockdown.

Australia's coronavirus lockdown is upending generations of tradition and forcing families to get creative in how they celebrate religious festivals.

But how do you celebrate when your church, mosque or synagogue is closed and gatherings of more than two people are banned?Judith Levitan is a member of Sydney's orthodox Jewish community and would normally host 20 to 30 for a traditional Passover dinner, known as a Seder."On one hand what this means is less cooking … but sadly what it also means is empty chairs at the table," Ms Levitan said.

The synagogue is also hosting virtual prayer sessions and online lectures in the lead-up to Passover.'No matter what, it'll be a beautiful day'
