The phase three trial of the vaccine being developed by Oxford University and pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca has been put on hold due to a suspected serious adverse reaction in a participant.
Craig Butt81The 14-day average for coronavirus cases is going to be a key metric for Victorians in the weeks ahead. Restrictions will only start to ease significantly in Melbourne from September 28, if that crucial figure falls below 50.
Although, as Craig explains below - because he doesn't have the same level of access to the detailed data that the DHHS does, this figure should be seen as the best estimate until they release the definitive figure this afternoon. Here's what Craig says: Reclassifications mean anyone who tested positive initially, but it later turned out the test got it wrong, along with other reasons inaccuracies could have ended up in the data.
That’s for several reasons: 1) it is only recently that the Health Department has started publishing the reclassified totals for each day in an accessible format; and 2) until now, an extra level of precision in the average was not necessary as it was the movement of the average, rather than its actual value, that we were focusing on.
