Journalist and columnist for the Herald Sun Patrick Carlyon has provided insights into the Lawyer X scandal following the release of thousands of pages from counsel assisting the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants.

The 2000-page document examines the use of former gangland defence lawyer, turned police-informer Nicola Gobbo.

Counsel submissions said Victoria Police had an obligation to inform Mr Mokbel of Ms Gobbo’s role to ensure he received a fair trial.
