Sarah and Ben Hodder's baby died earlier this year after their second round of IVF and say TasIVF's decision to close part of the Launceston fertility clinic will add to their difficulty in trying to conceive again.
TasIVF fertility specialist Bill Watkins said they would have needed to double the patient numbers to keep the laboratory open.
"A lot of fertility services, ovulation induction and cycle tracking will still be done [in Launceston], it's just purely the specific egg collection and embryo transfer component that will move down to Hobart." "From the patients' point of view, although they will have to travel, they'll be getting access to treatment that wasn't available up here."
