Sydneysiders have been told to wait two days for coronavirus swab results as interstate travel rules and an explosion in case alerts intensifies demand at testing clinics across the city.

People who attended St Vincent’s Pathology’s Sydpath clinics this week, including the Bondi Beach drive-through, received text messages indicating they should expect to wait at least 48 hours to receive their results due to “high testing demand”. Sites including Mosman’s Douglas Hanly Moir drive-through and the NSW Health clinic at the Block in Redfern have shut in recent weeks.Greg Granger, director of strategic operations at Histopath, said operations were expected to expand with an additional walk-in site in Millers Point added to more than 50 of the company’s sites across NSW.“We are bringing on another 100 staff.
