More than 100 Queensland police officers have been forced to isolate after three of their colleagues tested positive to the virus.
Deputy Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski on Monday confirmed 101 officers across the Logan and Gold Coast districts were in isolation after three colleagues returned a positive test.“We have the flexibility there … We’re not sitting here waiting for things to happen, we have been planning for this,” he said.Queensland Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski says there are enough police resources to go around.
There are 16 cases linked to a known case and 33 under investigation, while nine cases were acquired interstate but tested positive in Queensland. One is from overseas and in isolation. Ms Palaszczuk “strongly recommended” people wear masks while indoors but said this rule would not be mandated. The rising virus tide in Queensland coincides with the emergence of the highly contagious Omicron strain. “It’s summer, schools are closed. This is the time. This will give us an opportunity to see what happens.”
