“Paluma Dam has surpassed that 700mm mark in the last 24 hours, or since 9am yesterday morning — 717mm there," she says.“Having a look at that radar, we can see that there's another band of those oranges, yellows, that really more intense rainfall, which is about to push onto the coast again,” she says.

As we heard earlier this morning, the Ingham Pump Station is forecast to reach 15 metres by early this afternoon. He's warned those considering staying put may be without power for days to come, or could become an isolated island.The Cassowary Coast Regional Council has issued an emergency alert for the Cardwell township, with flooding occurring in low lying areas which may spread.

As we've heard, residents in six Townsville suburbs have been told to leave their properties by midday."Your safety is more important than anything else and we're asking you to leave by midday if you're in one of those affected areas," he says.
