Daniel Andrews and Victoria Labor’s red shirts rort is set to face more scrutiny after the government watchdog confirmed it would review a referral for a new investigation.
Former Labor minister Adem Somyurek last week successfully moved a motion in Victoria’s Legislative Council to have the affair referred to the Ombudsman along with the Premier’s role in “designing, propagating, and facilitating” the scheme.
“I will consider the extent to which the matters subject of the referral have already been investigated or are currently being investigated,” Ms Glass said. Mr Somyurek argued new revelations and differences in the way corruption was investigated since the initial probe justified a re-examination., Mr Somyurek said he and 24 other current and former Labor MPs were involved in the “biggest scandal in Victoria’s history” which he said resulted in the party winning government."Time sheets, six months of time sheets signed. So we collectively, systematically stole, they say $400,000.
“I have a discretion to investigate as I see fit, and I will refer matters and share information as appropriate and in accordance with the Ombudsman Act.”
