Dyson Daniels shines for the Hawks despite their losing streak, while Jock Landale and Ben Simmons clash in a Nets upset victory over the Rockets.
Dyson Daniels continued his aggressive offensive streak in the Atlanta Hawks ' close loss to the Indiana Pacers , finishing as his team's second-highest scorer in a five-point defeat. The 21-year-old Daniels might be known for his defensive prowess, leading the NBA in steals, but he put up an impressive 23 points on an efficient 8-of-15 shooting from the field. This marked his sixth career 20-plus-point outing, all achieved this season. Daniels also contributed four rebounds and four assists.
While forwards DeAndre Hunter and Zaccharie Risacher returned from injury, Jalen Johnson will miss the remainder of the season due to shoulder surgery. This means Daniels continues to play a more prominent offensive role. With superstar guard Trae Young limited in the first half, Daniels led the Hawks in scoring with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and 2-of-3 from three-point range. Young ignited in the second half, however, as Indiana mounted a comeback, finishing the game with 34 points on 11-of-26 shooting and a staggering 17 assists. In a separate game, Australians Jock Landale and Ben Simmons faced off in Houston, coming off the bench for the Houston Rockets and Brooklyn Nets respectively. The visiting Nets secured a significant road upset, defeating the Rockets 110-98. Simmons, who had a strong start with a spin-move in the key, struggled offensively, making only one of his four shot attempts. Landale, entering the game shortly after, showcased his skills with two offensive rebounds in a single possession, leading to a three-pointer for Cam Whitmore, and later, a smooth back-down move for an easy two points. Interestingly, Landale was not given another chance to play after the first half despite his initial strong performance. Simmons, held scoreless in his first 11 minutes, contributed a slick pass to Day'Ron Sharpe in transition, extending Brooklyn's lead to 21 points in the third quarter
