"Grindr has always taken its role as a connector for the LGBTQ+ community very seriously. "Grindr will continue to advocate for the safety, health, and human rights of the global LGBTQ+ community as we work toward a world where the lives of our users are free, equal, and just."ACT Chief Police Officer Scott Lee says investigators are looking at possible links to a similar incident in New South Wales.Earlier this week, ACT Chief Police Officer Scott Lee said the investigation into the attacks, which police believe are linked, was a "priority".

Five incidents have been reported to police in Victoria over June and July in which victims have been allegedly assaulted, robbed, threatened and subjected to homophobic comments, after being lured by "several groups of offenders" who had been posing as legitimate users. "As when using any app or social media platform, please always remain vigilant by protecting your identity and location and verifying the other person's identity before meeting up."
