‘Horrific’: Dead dog found tied to tree at Brisbane boat ramp
The RSPCA is calling for information after a dead dog, suspected of dying from a blow to its head, was found tied to a tree near a Brisbane boat ramp.
The male American Staffordshire bull terrier cross was found tied to a tree in Wyampa Road, Bald Hills, on August 14.The large white-and-tan dog – wearing a heavy leather collar tied with a 35-millimetre nylon blue strap – was found by a member of the public.Veterinary exams revealed the dog, believed to be three to five years old, might have been there for at least four days, between August 10 and 14.
The RSPCA said on first inspection, it appeared the dog might have died after being tangled around the tree, but further examination confirmed it died from blunt force trauma to the head.“The way the dog was tied and killed was deliberate,” RSPCA Queensland spokesperson Emma Lagoon said.“But whatever way you look at it, it’s horrific to think that this is how this poor dog spent its final moments. There are always other options.
Investigations were yet to determine who owned the dog, but RSPCA appealed to the public for information.
