Sky News host Peta Credlin has criticised the Albanese government over its handling of Palestinian visas.
It comes as heavily redacted documents have been tabled in the Senate revealing thousands of Palestinian visa-holders were referred to ASIO for security checks only after they were granted special temporary visitor permits. According to ministerial briefing documents, 27 visa-holders had their visas cancelled prior to getting here. However, seven Palestinians had already arrived in Australia by the time ASIO had ruled they shouldn't be allowed into the country.
"This again just goes to show how little certainty we can have when it comes to this cohort of visa recipients, considering there were no rigorous face-to-face or biometric testing requirements prior to the granting of visas, not to mention the fact that some may have already been in Australia before they were referred to ASIO," Ms Credlin said.ASIO has since assessed all onshore and offshore visa holders.
