If Australia didn’t provide the United States with support in the defence of Taiwan it would be “the end of our alliance relationship”, says former ASPI executive director Peter Jennings.
He said as China becomes more “aggressive” it’s the moment for Australia to be stronger in its defence, working with like-minded countries.
“The democracies need to hang together or we’re all going to hang separately under coercion from the PRC and the pressure they’re placing on different countries in the region,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
