The Australian Electoral Commission has revealed that voters are enrolling in record numbers ahead of them having their say on the Indigenous Voice to Parliament.

The Australian Electoral Commission on Tuesday revealed that the estimated national enrolment rate is sitting at 97.5 per cent, up 0.4 per cent from the end of 2022.

The AEC noted that 60,000 more Indigenous Australians have enrolled since the end of 2022, with improvements across every jurisdiction. Younger people are also becoming more engaged ahead of the crucial vote, with the rate for those aged between 18 and 24 now at 90.3 per cent. “If Australia’s enrolment is not the best in the world, it’d be incredibly close - my international counterparts are often flabbergasted at how we get enrolment so high,” he said.
