David Lowres is completely restricted to his mobility scooter and now he can't access his local train in Victoria because it's too steep for him. 9News
Recently the tracks were upgraded so the railway sits above the platform at an incline for him.
However, Mr Lowres has been told train staff can't push him onto the train because of 'OH&S issues' with the potential of staff being injured.Recently the tracks were upgraded so the railway sits above the platform at an incline for David Lowres. Rebecca Thomson runs the Little River Railway Station Revival committee and is campaigning for the station to be turned into a community centre for the town, which would help Mr Lowres get on to the train.
It went on to say "staff have all been made aware of David's travel needs. To our knowledge this has been working ok, we had not had contact from David to the contrary".watched Mr Lowres try and board the train, there was no extension and no suggestion for him to board a different part of the train. David reached out to us late in 2019 to review this and at the beginning of this year our accessibility team explored solutions, including a longer ramp.
