In a little clubhouse kitchen in Brisbane's suburban south, everyone has a story to tell — all are displaced Ukrainians who have fled the war and sought refuge in Australia.

Inna Vyshnevska remembers the constant sound of explosions, sirens and shouting in the four months she was forced to take refuge in the basement of her Kyiv apartment complex.When an opportunity to flee presented itself, they had no time to think or feel fear. It was do or die."You don't have time to think, consider, make any decisions. You need it now. And when we had the opportunity to leave the city, .

"It's crazy because one day you have family, friends, house. Everything. And just in one day, bang! You have nothing."In a little clubhouse kitchen in Brisbane's suburban south, everyone has a story like Inna and Petya.The Ukrainian Club of Brisbane has transformed an old bowls club, now the location of their clubhouse, into a restaurant which solely employs displaced Ukrainians.

Inna worked as a psychologist in Ukraine, but couldn't continue practising in Australia because she didn't know English.She found that and more in the Ukrainian Club's kitchen.He said working in the restaurant helps him to feel close to the community he was forced to leave behind and thinks about every minute of the day.

"We not adding garlic into it. Like everybody's asking, 'oh, where's the garlic?' Chicken kyiv shouldn't have garlic added into it."The restaurant is currently open every Friday and Saturday night.
