The Labor Party is at a crossroads in Brisbane. It faces existential threats and uncomfortable options.

Labor’s vote is down in its heartland of low-income, working-class suburbs and in trendy inner-suburban electorates, both of which were strongholds for the ALP in the past.what has just happened in the state seats of Inala and Ipswich West, past bastions for LaborBut Labor cannot live in the past. It has fundamental and life-threatening problems. These are not temporary setbacks, or the result of temporal issues like interest rates.

Just as there is an LNP combining the remnants of the Liberal and National parties, so too there will be a GLP combining Greens and Labor.
