Former Prime Minister John Howard says former president Donald Trump “doesn’t deserve” to be president again after losing the 2020 election. Mr Howard criticised the former president's handling of the election after he lost to Joe Biden. “To borrow a cricketing analogy – when you’re out, and your dismissal has been confirmed by the decision and the finger goes up for the last time, you’ve got to leave the field, take your bat with it, and cop it,” Mr Howard told Sky News host Paul Murray. The former prime minister said he didn't like losing to Kevin Rudd and was sure Paul Keating didn't like losing him; however, they 'had to accept it'. “You play the democratic game; you’ve got to live by its rules – benefit from its good decisions and put up with its bad decisions. “Donald Trump wasn’t willing to do that.”

‘Insulting’: John Howard blasts government’s ‘failure’ to explain VoiceFormer prime minister John Howard says the main reason a lot of Australians will vote 'No' to the Voice to Parliament is the government’s “failure” to explain what is involved. A Reserve Strategic poll found 57 per cent of voters are planning to vote ‘No’ and only 39 per cent of voters in Western Australia and Queensland support the referendum. “We have no idea of precisely how this body is going to be elected,” Mr Howard told Sky News host Paul Murray. “We haven’t been told precisely how many people are going to be elected, we haven’t been told what their terms of engagement are once they’ve been elected. “We’ve been told ‘if you vote for it we’ll tell you then’ – that is nothing short of insulting to the Australian people.”
