'He recklessly blazed a path of lawlessness and corruption the cost of which democracy be damned,' chairman Bennie Thompson said at the start of the final public hearing.
Former US president Donald Trump"blazed a path of lawlessness and corruption" during the assault on the US Capitol last year, the chair of a congressional committee investigating the attack says.
The panel played videotaped testimony from White House aides and security staff discussing the events of the day. "He recklessly blazed a path of lawlessness and corruption the cost of which democracy be damned," chairman Bennie Thompson said at the start of the final public hearing. "The mob was accomplishing President Trump's purpose, so of course he didn't intervene," Mr Kinzinger said.
Another round of hearings will begin in September, said the panel's Republican vice-chair, Liz Cheney.
