The sci-fi Western Dracula movie receives a positive update from Nomadland and Eternals director Chloé Zhao after several years of silence.
Chloé Zhao's Dracula movie is still in development, the writer/director confirms. After the failure of 2017's The Mummy led Universal to scrap plans for a shared Dark Universe franchise, the studio shifted focus to standalone auteur-driven monster movies, with Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man being the first example of this approach, which was a big box office success.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Now, after several years of silence, Zhao has provided a promising update on her sci-fi Western Dracula movie. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Nomadland and Eternals director was asked if her Dracula film was still in development and Zhao responded, "Yes, I’m writing the script right now.
Zhao's intriguing take on Dracula remains anticipated, and thanks to the recent update, it's clear that the project is still alive and in development. However, it's unclear how far along the script is or when production might actually begin.
