South Lanarkshire Council has issued a warning to drivers as pavement parking legislation comes into force after the council said it will issue fines to motorists
Motorists have been alerted about potential £100 fines as new pavement parking legislation comes into effect on January 6, 2025, in South Lanarkshire. The council has confirmed that if a vehicle is causing an obstruction, the police may issue a fixed Penalty Notice.
"We only have the power to deal with parking in areas with traffic regulation orders. If vehicles are parking in such a manner as to cause an obstruction Police Scotland has the necessary powers to deal with this. Please phone 101 for non-emergency enquiries or see Police Scotland Contact us."
