Picture: Today/ Nine "It’s a Greens candidate, and, I think to be honest, what we need as a country is a mature debate about how we can have a reliable energy system, how we can have a downward pressure on costs, because at the moment going into Christmas, families just can’t afford to pay their electricity bills under the government’s energy policy.
Mr Dutton hit out at Energy Minister Chris Bowen who was earlier on breakfast TV. Picture: Sunrise/Seven "One of the reasons it's expensive is to manage the risks, you need to spend hundreds of millions of dollars, and that's hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayers money," he said. Mr Bowen made similar remarks to Seven's Sunrise on Friday, arguing"renewables are a safe alternative" to nuclear power.
During a media conference in Canberra on Friday, Mr Albanese was asked whether an"expert versus their expert" approach to the nuclear debate would result in Australians simply"not trusting any experts".
