Climate change was a pivotal issue at the May 21 election, contributing to the loss of six blue-ribbon Liberal seats to teal independents, as well as the loss of other suburban seats such as Boothby and Bennelong to Labor. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will introduce the legislation as a priority when parliament first sits on July 26.
But he has argued that Labor is pushing too hard, too fast towards technology not yet capable of supplying baseload power.
