Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has launched a scathing attack on independent MP Zali Steggall in response to her accusing him of racism during a heated debate about Gaza refugees.
Ms Steggall lashed out at Mr Dutton in the House of Representatives on Thursday, accusing him of racism for demanding anThe independent MP for Warringah had sharply criticised the hard-line stance and told the Opposition Leader to “stop being racist”.
“It probably doesn’t come as any surprise, I mean, people who know Zali Steggall know that she’s really a Green and they hold these extreme views,” Mr Dutton said. “This is about keeping our country safe and Anthony Albanese has failed the Australian public,” he told parliament. Speaker Milton Dick was forced to briefly suspend the session to restore order before he called on Ms Steggall to consider withdrawing her remark.
