Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has revealed he has privately discussed an Indigenous Voice to Parliament with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and is open to supporting it but needs more detail.

The Opposition Leader told ABC RN Breakfast he was listening to the proposal “respectfully” because “reconciliation is incredibly important.”

“I'm listening respectfully to what the government has to say and if they can answer the questions then we can have a conversation at that time," he said on Thursday. “I’ve had private conversations with the Prime Minister. I have made public statements, where I'm approaching it with an open mind. “I want to see the action now because I've seen first-hand the experience of those who have been sexually assaulted and I can tell you that those people are scarred for life and those kids will have the innocence of their childhood robbed.”
