Peter Dutton presiding over 'the most unified Liberal party room since John Howard' after winning Australians over on the Voice
Hayden, like Peter Dutton, was dismissed by the Press Gallery as a nightwatchman at best, lacking charisma and sophistication. The Coalition is gearing up for a raid on the Labor seats Anthony Albanese has neglected so badly since becoming Prime Minister, writes Nick Cater. Picture: NCA NewsWireThere have been no visible signs of dissent at his leadership, even on an issue as polarising and heated as the Voice.
Foreign policy under Albanese is characterised by equivocation, most damagingly towards Israel, where the politics in a dozen Labor seats with a Muslim population of 10 per cent or more has distorted his judgement. Albanese will be appealing to the parts of Australia he barely understands, those with the luxury of being able to fret about climate change, gender, correcting historical wrongs or any of the abstract concerns that loom large in the coffee shops at Marrickville.
