are displaying "the most concerning upwards trends," according to Jackie Fitzgerald, Executive Director at NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research.
This is up from 32,125 in 2021, and marks a total increase of three per cent over the past five years.Fitzgerald said the report highlights the fact domestic violence is "one of the most pressing social problems" facing Australians. "We have actually also seen an increase in retail theft over the past two years, we're reporting a 24 per cent increase, but that is off the back of big falls in that offence over the pandemic.
