Her tireless commitments to St John have led many in the community to know her lovingly as “Aunty Val”.The founder of a not-for-profit, GP-led mobile medical service for people experiencing homelessness has been named Young Australian of the Year.in August 2020 after identifying the gap in the healthcare of vulnerable people in New South Wales.
The 47-year-old is the founder and CEO of Sober in the Country, a grassroots charity offering peer support, broad scale advocacy and education.
